I was wondering how easy it would be to port Open Transport Tycoon to the PocketPC Any ideas how this could be achieved? thanks pac

pac: (doubt you'll read this anyway)

anyway, the original reason i'm editing this is to ask.

why is RSS disabled per default?

unless there's a good reason, can it be enabled? :)

I would like to know if its possible to use 1024x768 resolution in Windows 2000. Thanks.

Should be no problem, but it depends on your Graphic Card. You also will need DirectX, which I believe is part of the Service Packs for Win200. -- Sulai 18:31, 9 Feb 2005 (CET)
Additional Note, DirectX is a custom user Download.. It doesn't come with the SPs. -- FCS

Very interesting wiki site!... Thanx! -- 00:28, 16 Oct 2005 (CEST)

Multilanguage support

The OpenTTD lover's aren't all english speakers'. What about allow Mediawiki multilanguage option ? -- 13:54, 28 Oct 2005 (CEST)

Not going to happen i don`t think. people are not going to translate everything they write into 4 diffrent languages.(unless you are offering to)

As long as you give someone the capability, they'll do it for you. That's the beauty of a wiki :) --Ch'marr 02:35, 27 Nov 2005 (CET)

I would like to translate the wiki gradually in my spare time from English to German. But as long as there's no multilanguage option... bummer... ;o) --Clemi 11:53, 21 July 2008 (CEST)

And I would try to help whenever I have some time :) --Jukey 16:54, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm still there and waiting for the multilanguage option... Come on, even know people in my family who are interested in this game, but they're much older than I am. And their English is so bad, they don't understand anything... --ClemiMD 10:10, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Thx in advantage,

Talk:Manual:Main Page

Any chance that talk for Manual:Main_Page will be fixed too? See my Village Pump post from last week. Zojj 00:28, 7 May 2007 (CEST)

New Main Page

Please have a look at New Main Page test and report problems, if you happen to stumble on any. I'm thinking the page is ready to be moved here, so it would be prudent to give it a couple of days of "intensive" eyeballing and if no problems are found, I suggest we put it online.

There is also a side-by-side version but personally I prefer the original.

Jupix 15:03, 7 May 2007 (CEST)

Seconded. The new page seems ready and I like its appearance. I see no reason to wait any longer to put in online. Last but not least I prefer the original one, too.
Sleepie 15:13, 7 May 2007 (CEST)

Right, I've moved the new main page over. Born Acorn 16:09, 7 May 2007 (CEST)

Brilliant, now I can't put that cool question mark icon in the support section. Can we please finally unprotect the main page? Jupix 16:41, 7 May 2007 (CEST)
Great. Thanks :) Sleepie 16:25, 7 May 2007 (CEST)

The Main Page won't be unprotected. You'd be surprised how many people (not bots) would vandalise it. Make any further changes to New Main Page test and give us a shout when it's done. Born Acorn 17:38, 7 May 2007 (CEST)

New Main Page #3

I've made another layout for the main page: User:Zojj/Simple_Main_Page. I like simple. =) Any comments? Zojj 06:32, 18 July 2007 (CEST)

Simple is nice, altough I don't like big fonts and saturated colors for background. I like current main page more, as it seems to be more clear, and user-friendly - especially newbie-friendly. 09:50, 18 July 2007 (CEST)
Thanks for feedback, I made the font smaller and the colors lighter. I think my page is much more user-friendly to new visitors. Zojj 00:48, 20 July 2007 (CEST)

+ removal/content deletion vandals

The + removal vandals are very odd, but I have come across them at the OpenStreetMap wiki as well. There is not much that can be done about this, as even disabling unregistered edits doesn't stop them (OSM's wiki has this on). The vandal also removes some pages' content.

Example of page content removal at OSM Example of page removal here. Bruce98 18:54, 6 July 2007 (CEST)

Maybe we should get a bot that runs once an hour... server side would be best I think. Zojj 19:33, 6 July 2007 (CEST)

I remember now why when I redid the manual I didn't upload a larger size to start with - the size isn't set on this page. Can someone with the correct permissions force-size the manual image to 64px? Mintra 17:28, 13 October 2007 (CEST)

Please unprotect this page, spam isn't an issue anymore. Bruce98 23:59, 13 October 2007 (CEST)

I guess the problem will come back if teh main-page gets unlocked. But take a look at New_Main_Page_test and see if you like the changes I made and then I or you ask someone in #openttd to just update the main-page. Zuu 10:19, 14 October 2007 (CEST)
I did, but no-one there has admin rights. Bruce98 18:46, 14 October 2007 (CEST)
Read the discussion 3 topics above this one. In other words, the main page will not be unprotected, and you can ask user:Born Acorn to sync the main page with New Main Page test. Jupix 01:57, 15 October 2007 (CEST)

Add this up, please:

|en=Main Page
|ca=Pàgina principal
|es=Página principal
|ru=Главная страница
Isn't there are way that that isn't needed / is included from somewhere? Because the way it is now someone with enough rights needs to update it for each new language that gets added. Instead of modifying some template or something. Rubidium 19:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Why don't we keep the translations in separate wikis as Wikipedia does? This would keep the different languages and their files much better separated, avoid namespace issues, etc.. Also it wouldn't need this template since the interwiki links that appear in the left sidebar are already a MediaWiki feature. However it would still need an admin to setup a new language. --Krille 00:15, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Because separate wikis means separate database tables, separate access control stuff, separate media wiki "installs", watching over separate wikis for spam, still modifying eachother wiki pages to add the interwiki links (as can be seen on [[1]]. Effectively you'd have to multiply the amount of work it is for the admins now by the number of languages + a bit for actually setting up the wikis in a particular language. So the "only" benefits would be that there is less stuff in the English wiki's recent changes. Why it "works" for Wikipedia is because there they just have real separate wikis with separate users and administrators for each language. Rubidium 00:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
See #New Main Page: "The Main Page won't be unprotected. You'd be surprised how many people (not bots) would vandalise it. Make any further changes to New Main Page test and give us a shout when it's done." But who is to tell?--Luigix 08:36, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Add more flags

I would also like flags to be added :) --ashledombos 05:29, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

To add more flags, first modify this: Template:Other_languages and Template:Other languages files --Luigix 08:40, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Or request here --Luigix 11:00, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Additional Link

Additional to the 32bpp original scale zoom link, please add the 32bpp full zoom Scale link in the set of links towards the bottom of the main page. Cheers. Ben 20:16, 29 May 2008 (CEST)

I've added this to the New Main Page test page. Just need an admin to sync it across now... Mintra 00:06, 29 June 2008 (CEST)

Unlock Roadmap

Or please update it at least :-) -- 22:26, 7 August 2008 (CEST)

I think, on this site need the language flags, when any language have too this page on any languages!

I agree --ashledombos 21:19, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
I also --Luigix 12:39, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Why was there a redirect to twitter on the whole Wiki?

move flags, or add border-top

The flags are not good as they are:

  • You can move flags up, or...
  • Or add the missing border-top in the second box. Delete: border-top:none; (in line #15)
<div style="background-color: #E7EBFF; border: 1px solid #c7c8fe; padding: 1em 1em 0em 1em; margin-bottom:2em">

--Luigix 08:35, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Flags are also not good for the reason that they represent a country, not a language. I strongly recommend anyone who thinks using flags is a good idea to read this:

--FooBar 11:39, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

You (as well as anybody else here) can edit the appropriate template: Template:Other_languages. I have yet to see a good alternative that is just as clear. So while flags might not be good, please come up with something better before removing them. Yexo 16:23, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

More realistic transportation of passengers

Hello, I would like to ask, if there is some kind of patch or GRF, where passengers know, where they are going and can go more than one stop and transfer. I think it is more realistic - it's the style of Simutrans. It's the only thing I don't like on OTTD. Thanks a lot. ;-) -- 19:38, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Use the Forum for questions, search around first for cargodist and/or cargodest. Yexo 23:43, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Remove reference to list of 32bpp tars (obsolete/outdated for r1.2)

Can someone with edit rights remove the link to the list of 32bpp tars? Not useful anymore for current version with newgrf 32bpp loading, and only confusing for inexperienced users. GeekToo 21:34, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Translate extension

Hello, I see that this is a multilingual wiki. Have you considered using the Translate extension, which allows to easily make your MediaWiki multilingual? It makes you save enormous amounts of time which otherwise is wasted on templates wizardry, manual synchronisation of pages and so on, scarying off most translators; and offers many other aids to efficient translation. Now it's also available in handy tarball bundles. The page explains how to get help and more information, and there is extensive documentation; asking on #mediawiki-i18n @ freenode is probably your best chance for immediate assistance if needed.
