Developing 32bpp NewGRFs

Since Feb 4th, 2012 it is possible to create standalone NewGRFs, with 32bpp sprites, that are compatible with OpenTTD 1.2.0, using GRF container v2 and NFO v32. GRFCodec r883 and later support this addition.
