ENESFR

OpenTTD supports modding the game via NewGRF plug-ins. NewGRFs can alter game play, can replace existing and introduce new graphics. Additionally OpenTTD has support for 32bpp graphics which always replace an existing 8bpp sprite (either base set or NewGRF). There exists a 32bpp "full-zoom" branch which adds two additional zoom-levels to OpenTTD. Note, though, that the "full-zoom" replacement graphics will NOT work with an official and unpatched version of OpenTTD.
