Downloadable 32bpp graphics are supported in OpenTTD 0.6.0 beta 1 and later, and in nightly builds. To use them, you have to place the TARs in your data directory and start OpenTTD with a 32bpp blitter. You can find more information in the article playing with 32bpp graphics.
