Purpose of Game?

The real thing missing here is the purpose of the game. It's implied, but for people who haven't played any other transport game, like me, won't know what going on at all. -- 18:19, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

depend on how far this page or maybe a whole tutorial is going screenshots and users which use this tutorial should be using all the same map. Since there is a new gui for new games with a lot of parameters we should specific these parameters so new users will get the same map (and depend on the locale with the same townnames). --Progman 23:25, 20 October 2006 (CEST)

It's just an example. I wrote it to work on any map. Born Acorn 01:05, 21 October 2006 (CEST)

There is a typo in the last paragraph. It states that you should lick the "Full Load" button(, this should be click ...)

Nice one :) Next time feel free to edit it yourself - that's a wiki engine :) MeusH 18:17, 9 January 2007 (CET)

Not editable - Better networks

This page isn't editable for me. But I was thinking of adding a note telling new people that this isn't a very good line. Just a line that works. I see too many people in multiplayer that only build lines like these without knowing much better networks are possible. --AllTransport 22:35, 21 February 2007 (CET)

The article is protected because people kept adding more advanced features which have their own articles already. I've added a note to the article. Born Acorn 01:05, 22 February 2007 (CET)

More help!

Listen, I'm not a newbie to TTD, but all I've ever made is the point-to-point systems. I thought maybe the OpenTTD wiki would expand on how to create a network. But there's nothing... just a little tantalizing phrase at the end that this is not a good method. There's not even a link to a more complex tutorial? I've read Owen's Transport Tycoon page and it still does not describe making efficient networks-- just junctions upon junctions (though I highly appreciate his information and effort). What I'm saying is that there needs to be a next step above this page, how to take your dinky point-to-point stations a level higher. I've tried by analyzing Owen's pictures, and pictures here, but I just don't understand how to start a good network. -- 12:04, 24 May 2007 (CEST)

Good point, the wiki does need this info. For now, you can read about signals and railway stations for more info. Play in multiplayer games if you can. When you learn maybe you can create (or expand) Advanced rail networks. Zojj 23:37, 24 May 2007 (CEST)
Thanks Zojj, I'll check out the multiplayer games. It would be helpful to see what others do in real time. I actually got so riled up, I managed to create a mini network on my game tonight that I'm proud of, LOL. Who knows, maybe I will be able to contribute to that Advanced Rail Networks page. :o) I got an account just in case. --Smh219 12:22, 25 May 2007 (CEST)
That is so true about amount of info in Wiki! :)
I am kind of enthusiastic about adding a few tutorials. Once I'm done they could be linked with this page. Basically "Getting Started" is a messy one. Phrases like "Generate a new temperate map."? :) Yes, very helpful. And I know there are pages detailing how. While there is a link to Coal_Mine, yet there is none to Tutorial where new game start is explained (more or less).
In my opinion this should be a quick introduction page, directing user to real tutorials/walkthroughs with detailed info and iamges. So that once read through this page user does not have questions like - so where do I find more about this and that.
Also, the first thing users probably click is Game Manual a.k.a. Manual:Main Page when entering Wiki. And that page needs a HUGE tutorial link/sign/menu added. :) -- H3llkn0wz 20:56, 25 May 2007 (CEST)

This page clearly needs a bit more editing before it can be called finished. Can someone with the appropriate permissions unprotect it? Mintra 13:46, 28 October 2007 (CET)
