Current Development

As this page is used for some Current Developments i think that it may be a good idea to have a current develpoment page this could be done in one of two ways:

  • Add current development to the suggestions page. At the top of the page there could be the offical developments (branches etc) then below that could be the suggestions and there current developments if any.
  • Make a new page called Current Development that links to all the relivent currrent development pages in the wiki.

As it stands now i think the second idea would work best but please let me know what you think. L blue l 05:52, 18 April 2007 (CEST)

The colors are very difficult (or impossible) to tell apart for color-blind people... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

What do you suggest? Jupix 12:44, 20 March 2007 (CET)
Here's a link with some safe colors. Here's some more info, and here is a page where you can check how color blind people (like myself - I have protanope) see images. Try to feed it a screenshot of the "Suggestions" page (the other service which accepts URLs directly doesn't really work with background colors so you have to take the detour through a screenshot) 14:48, 23 March 2007 (CET)
oh, btw, this can also be used to check OpenTTD screenshots for color blind compatibility. I remember some discussion about max-speed signs on tracks, and how they should look.... 14:55, 23 March 2007 (CET)
First off, thank you for the insight in this matter..
The vischeck thingy seems to be extremely useful—it should be run on every table on this wiki...
However, fixing the table so that it's as intuitive for both color-blind-and-not people proves to be a problem. We are currently using so many colors there are not enough colors in the limited spectrum. I suppose one solution would be to replace yellow, the middle color, with white so that there would only be two colors, one for "no progress" and one for "done". This should, however, be given a lot of thought by many people before any changes are made. (Not to mention the fact that I am hardly in the position to make fundamental changes in the wiki color standards, in which green means done, red means stopped and yellow means in-progress.) Jupix 15:08, 23 March 2007 (CET)
I don't believe there is a solution to the problem by changing the colors but i do believe color blind people should be able to access the information just as easy as non-color blind people. I propose a solution of adding numbers in front of the Progress column. I have edited the first part of the page and hope to get other peoples opinion before making a changes to the whole page. L blue l 12:30, 26 March 2007 (CEST)
After looking at some other pages on the wiki i feel it would be best if i do change the colours and names to match other articles like Roadmap_0.6. When i get some time it will be one of the first things i do. L blue l 23:54, 26 March 2007 (CEST)
I have updated the colours and will be fixcing the rest of the article soon L blue l 02:57, 27 March 2007 (CEST)
I have restored the page to what it was before but will be changing the colors soon L blue l 05:18, 27 March 2007 (CEST)
Not what i would of liked but the colours are changed and now uses the same colours as on other pages. L blue l 07:51, 15 April 2007 (CEST)

No Related links from the wiki

The principal problem of the Suggestion page is there is no link which is pointing here —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Octopuss (talkcontribs).

Huh? Pointing where, from where? Jupix 18:30, 21 March 2007 (CET)
If I get it right Octopuss means that no wiki links point to the suggestion page so nobody will get/find the suggestion page by reading the rest of the wiki, because the page is not linked elsewhere. One link so far, which won't count because its a redirect >> Special:Whatlinkshere/Suggestions --Sleepie 22:55, 21 March 2007 (CET)
The openTTD forum suggestions page sorta points here :p i will ask for a formal link to this page on the OpenTTD Suggestions page and will also add some links from other pages when i get around to it. L blue l 05:29, 27 March 2007 (CEST)
Is it possible to have a link from the Development:Main Page ?? I Personnaly think it would very usefull --Octopuss 19:51, 16 April 2007 (CEST)
I currently investigating where and what should be link or if other pages may be necessary for a nice flowing wiki. One place which will link here will be the Development:Main Page. I have been a little slow on this but i am getting around to it so in the coming weeks there should be more links. L blue l 14:16, 17 April 2007 (CEST)
Ok i think i have worked it out. Please let me know what you think of the idea Talk:suggestions#Current Development L blue l 05:52, 18 April 2007 (CEST)

This wiki is no the place for a disuccion of different ideas of topics if you feel an suggestion should be added to this page and it has allready been discussed then feel free to add it. All future topics relating to a suggestion for OpenTTD will be removed without warning. L blue l 02:32, 18 April 2007 (CEST)

Misc suggestions from the forums

More Companys/Players

What about allowing more than 8 companys or more players? I think it was suggested some times in the forums and in the chat. 01:01, 22 March 2007 (CET)

If you can find a forum topic about the subject feel free to add it to the main page L blue l 12:34, 26 March 2007 (CEST)

Diagonal level crossings

Sorry, but... why this is spam? I think that is a Suggestion. If you don't like it, don't use it.

I did not mean offense by removing it but this page is not a discussion about this feature or that feature. If it is commonly asked then feel free to add it to the page with links. L blue l 05:57, 13 April 2007 (CEST)

Curves/slopes on bridges

How about curved/sloped bridges? wuold be cool but quite impossible I guess, because it would mean bridges need to be stored per-tile. Something to consider for the faaaaaar future I think? ;-) -- 16:55, 17 April 2007 (CEST)

As i have stated before this is not the place for discussion of topics please discussion these things on the OTTD forum and if they have been disccued before feel free to add them to this page with a link to the discussion. L blue l 02:28, 18 April 2007 (CEST)

What about PBS (pre-block signals)?!? They were canned because of the change to YAPF, but there seems to be no current effort to return it, while it is such an awesome feature!!! --Prins@je80 01:57, 30 May 2007 (CEST)

From what i know PBS is waiting for YAPF to be finished. L blue l 03:20, 2 June 2007 (CEST)
I was under the impression that PBS = path-based signaling... What exactly are pre-block signals?!? ;-) -- Jokes Free4Me 09:57, 2 June 2007 (CEST)
i have no idea what you mean by pre-block signals do you mean pre-signal, if so Advanced signal placement may be able to explain it. L blue l 11:06, 2 June 2007 (CEST)
You are absolutely right... It's indeed Path-Based signalling, i.e. the 4th type of signal... --Prins@je80 06:19, 4 June 2007 (CEST)

Planning of aircraft orders on world map

It would be very nice if I can plan these orders at the world map, because on large maps you always lost your airport. Also a good feature would be that the airway is shown or highlighted on the world map. --23:28, 1 June 2007 (CEST)

Post suggestions on the TT-forums suggestions page L blue l 03:04, 2 June 2007 (CEST)
I don't want to register in forum to post only one suggestion. An "open" forum would be mouch better... --15:15, 3 June 2007 (CEST)

Article name

I think there is going to be an eternal battle keeping unpopular suggestions off this page. There should be a page somewhere that lists everyone's ideas, be they good or bad. What if we moved this page to Popular requested features? Suggestions could then be a dump for everyone's ideas. Zojj 00:36, 2 June 2007 (CEST)

Yes i agree this pages title should be change and Popular requested features would be an appropriate title and possibly requested features could be a so called dump of everyone's else suggestions but ALL suggestions on both pages should have a link to a discussion topic on the OpenTTD forums page.
(there would be few examples of where a link would not be necessary) L blue l 03:18, 2 June 2007 (CEST)
Requested features about done, should Suggestions redirect there? Zojj 04:34, 6 June 2007 (CEST)
I am happy for it redirect there once completed patches are added back. L blue l 10:54, 6 June 2007 (CEST)
