Minimap and screenshots below other info?

I think it would be better to have the minimap and screenshots below. Also a short description with the size etc and a longer description under the screenshots--T-Unit 19:52, 8 February 2007 (CET)

I don't know about you, but the first thing I would look at when browsing for scenarios is the screenshot, to see what kind of scenario the text describes. This is why I put it on top. (Obviously, the images would have to be 200 pixels wide and 150 pixels tall, tops.) Jupix 19:57, 8 February 2007 (CET)
Yeah you are probably right. I have just realised now that i cannot remember how to substitute in values for the variables. Have you any ideas? The help pages on the wikipedia have just confused me. :p--T-Unit 20:06, 8 February 2007 (CET)
Here's an example! Jupix 20:41, 8 February 2007 (CET)
We still need at least these:
  • Download URL (we can change this to download ID once wikiadmin enables .scn uploads)
  • Description
  • OpenTTD version
Jupix 20:56, 8 February 2007 (CET)
I think we definitely need a short paragraph explaining the scenario, eg: The Enormous Europa Scenario spans the whole of Europe from Great Britain to the Ukrane and Istanbul. With many long distance routes to play and the oil-rich North Sea to exploit, your dream network can be realised. - ok so im not great at writing them but that sort of idea. Mabye put the paragraph at the bottom of the stats JameiLei
I had planned on having a page per scenario but i think the way it has been done is quite good as well. All the boxes on the scenario really need to be filled in for when this is "launched".--T-Unit 22:11, 8 February 2007 (CET)
Is page per scenario really needed? - possibly for the major ones but i think it would look neater if there wasn't a page per scenario. JameiLei 23:58, 9 February 2007 (CET)
Well, the positive side of it would be we wouldn't need separate listing pages. MediaWiki would take care of listing with categories. Jupix 00:20, 10 February 2007 (CET)
I hate the categories pages, they look awful and are difficult to navigate. I think the system without separate pages is the best as it allows people to browse scenareos without having to click each one. JameiLei 00:53, 10 February 2007 (CET)
Well, choosing this sort of listing means only some extra work in updating every category separately, no big deal I think :) Jupix 11:58, 10 February 2007 (CET)
Sorry I'm fed up of all these indents. Yeah I hadn't thought of the fact that scenarios could be in more than one category. I still think that a page full of templates for scenareos is better looking than a category page though. The only problem is the updates.. JameiLei 14:43, 10 February 2007 (CET)
Perhaps some people should be recruited from tt-forums to form a sort of a scenario team :) Jupix 15:03, 10 February 2007 (CET)
Not a bad idea, although the more we let people know about it, the bigger it will become. Begin by uploading all the default RC5 scenarios and work from there.82.36.81.159 16:36, 10 February 2007 (CET)

Add author info

I think it would be a good idea to add Author to the template so people can be attributed with their works —The preceding unsigned comment was added by T-Unit (talkcontribs).

I agree! Adding now. Jupix 17:21, 16 February 2007 (CET)

New Scenario Template Test

Below is the first attempt to change the scenario template and the category pages to a one-column style. This is not a final version, it's just an discussion base how it could look like. Comments and Suggestions are very welcome - Sleepie 01:53, 24 April 2007 (CEST)

Scn-UnitedKingdom-Screenshot.png Map Information
  • Geography

Approximately correct; Based off height map data from NASA; Placement of lighthouses bares no resemblance to real lighthouses; Major TV Masts are accurately placed

  • Towns / Cities

Populations are approx real 2001 populations / 125; To be included population must be greater than 10,000 in the real world (equivalent to 80 in the game); Towns / Cities have been included on the following basis

  • all cities (officially must be above 100,000)
  • all towns over 60,000
  • all other cities (under 100,000 but with a cathedral)
  • all county towns (towns that originally gave the county its name)
  • other towns of significance (usually geographically significant)

Populations are within 15% accuracy; Locations have been approximated using detailed terrain maps and relative positions; 197 towns in total

  • Industry

The following industries have been based off maps of centres of UK industry

  • Oil Rigs
  • Oil Refineries
  • Oil Wells
  • Coal Mines
  • Coal Power Stations
  • Steel Plants
  • Farms
  • Forests

More than 1 of the same type of industry per town has been enabled to allow more realistic placement; Banks are in all towns big enough (1200 population); Factories are clustered around the major urban areas, particularly in northern England; Iron ore mines are located in Cumbria and Cornwall as these appear to be the only parts of the UK with significant quantities of iron ore

  • General

Mainland Europe and Republic of / Northern Ireland are not yet populated with industries / towns; Some industry placement may need revising due to large distances; Cities become very large in later stages of game, may be better to start with real population / 250 (half current levels)
