The operating system (OS) is the main software system on your computer running all the programs that you want to run.

OpenTTD currently runs in the following operating systems:

  • AmigaOS [*] [1]
  • BeOS 5, Zeta 1.1 (x86 only) [2]
  • FreeBSD
  • Linux [3] (NOTE: different Linux variations and distributions behave differently, but some of them include OpenTTD in their packaging system in up-to-date version)
  • MacOS X (10.2 or newer) [4]
  • MorphOS [5]
  • NetBSD
  • OS/2 [6]
  • Palm OS 5 [*] [7]
  • SkyOS [*]
  • Symbian S60v3 [*] [8]
  • Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT/XP/Vista [9]

Success has also been reported for the following system(s):

  • Solaris 9/04 on a SUN Ultra-2 dual 170MHz UltraSparc-I with a Creator 2D Graphics Adapter (0.4.0.1)
  • ReactOS
