Snowy Highlands v0.5
The map has rough snowy mountains and deep valleys. So it should be a bit more challenging to build the infrastructure ;-) There are about 200 towns on the map, which is not that much compared to the map size. All towns are relativly small and towns above the snowline needs monthly food-service to grow. Towns and industries are not too close together. So at least in the early years some pre-planning is necessary to start an successful transport empire.

Land of Floods v0.5
This can be a fun map and can also pretty much suck with the "wrong" players. The whole map is at sea-level and the only thing holding the water out are the dams. If you accidentally brake the dam you better quickly seal it back or the whole section will flood.

Karlsruhe
The map contains an area in the southwest of Germany, about 50km x 50km around the city of Karlsruhe. The northwest part of the map contains the flat valley of the rhine between Landau, Bruchsal and Baden-Baden in which farms dominate, between them there are the forests Hardtwald on the right side of the rhine and the Bienwald on the left side. The southeast part is dominated by the Black Forest, with its narrow valleys of the rivers Murg, Alb, Enz and Nagold and hills which reach heights of around 1000 meters. In the northeast there's the Kraichgau area which contains gentle hills and wide valleys.

South part of Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland
This map contains an area in the southwest of germany between Luxemburg in the northwest and the Black Forest in the south east. Most parts of the map are hilly to mountainous, the only large flat area is the rhine valley in the east. Most big citys are situated in valleys near rivers. If you want to build a good passenger network, perhaps even the real existing one in Rheinland-Pfalz, be sure to have many trains around the tracks, the cities are quite far away from each other due to the map size which covers an area of 250 km x 125 km.

Oberbayern
This map of medium size covers the area of Southern Bavaria and the west part of Austria. The north part of the map is very flat, containing the big lakes such as Bodensee, Starnberger See, Ammersee and Chiemsee, and of course, the town of Munich. It would be more hilly but i already set the highest elevation down to 3000 meters, so the highest peaks in the Austrian Alps are cut of (which isn't so bad, somewhere you have to plant the forests ;). In the south part of the map we have the Central Alps. While the valley of the Inn is wide enough to build a proper railway line, there are also many narrow valleys with little mountain villages. Getting passengers and food up there might be a little bit difficult but also very challenging if you don't terraform like hell and want to keep the beautiful landscape.
