Talk:Feeder service
From OpenTTD
MMh. It seems, that the Feeder service is only useable to drain a town out of people. It reads as being a one-way system.
But what one wants to, is an airport outside the town, where passengers from outside the world arrive and local inhabitants go to fly away.
I was not manage to set up such a system, because the buses transferring people to the airport take them back to town sometimes. What am I doing wrong?
- Unfortunately, OpenTTD does not at present make any distinction between the passengers waiting to fly out and those that have just arrived and are waiting to be shuttled into town. Therefore, as soon as you get passengers from more than one source at a station, where they came from is forgotten (you see the little (en-route from XXXX) message disappear from the cargo on the station screen. This makes it perfectly possible for a bus to pick up some of the passengers it has just dropped off if a plane or bus from another location just unloaded some more.
- As far as I'm aware there's no solution (although there is some work on destinations underway I believe). But you don't really need a solution. The fact that passengers are stacking up and allowing this to happen suggests there aren't planes with spare capacity lying around so everything should be making money. You just have to make yourself forget about individual passengers and their destination and think in terms of quantities of the cargo "passengers".
- For settings you want your planes to Goto Airport (Transfer and Take Cargo) and the same for buses. Hope this helps. Mintra 21:49, 21 March 2008 (CET)
