to move the name

For the Developers: maybe an idea to move the name (and cost-based-location) of the station, when moved? So the name moves with the center of the station. --RRuffneck 18:24, 22 March 2006 (CET)

I wanted the airport section

Sorry about all those edits, but I wanted the airport section looking more like manual than a childs interpretation of the game. The images have been thumbnailed to a 300px standard. I also did the dock section. Boris 19:23, 21 June 2006 (CEST)

section too large

I think this section is way too large. The info should be split off into the other articles such as Airports or Docks, and links to those articles as necessary Born Acorn 13:54, 9 July 2006 (CEST)

Newgrf Station

The section on Newgrf Stations shows that the new station graphics from TTDPatch can be used. But I can find no information on how to make it work. I've added the newstation = true line in the config file but nothing happens. Would someone please respond to this message and let me know how I can activate the new station graphics in the game.

Newstations are not in the (0.4.8) release, but are available in latest nightlies. --Jklamo 14:21, 11 July 2006 (CEST)

Maybe a short note on how platform length affects the Loading/Unloading of trains would be nice...

Waiting bay pictures

I think the changes in this revision are confusing to the reader. A waypoint and a depot are not part of a waiting bay. Also, the pre-signal setup is debatably slower. I'm going to revert, please discuss if you disagree. Zojj 19:00, 1 July 2007 (CEST)

I agree, and I think it'd be much better if railway tracks came from bottom-right and disappeared in the top-left corner. Also, it may be worth noticing that there is no change in orders needed. However, I don't know why pre-signals are that slower - of course, signal block size is increased by 3 tiles, but that's not much, is it? Or is it about something else? Do you mean a mirror image of what is on the page now? Why right-to-left instead of left-to-right? As for the presignals, both the current and reverted waiting bays use presignals. In the current picture, the entry presignal is closer to the station, allowing a waiting train to enter sooner. Zojj 00:10, 2 July 2007 (CEST)
It's fine now. The bottom-right and top-left was probably an ambiguous way to say that image should be cropped to show just the bay, no loop, no depots, etc. Good job Zojj. MeusH 13:19, 2 July 2007 (CEST)


1 block stations?

Sometimes 1-tile stations are really part of a large station. People call this station walk. If it is used for loading / unloading, here is the code for how it slows down unloading:

So if the train is 18 cars long loading at a 1 tile station (16 car overhang), loading /unloading cargo takes 4 times as long. Zojj 06:43, 29 November 2007 (CET)

Escape depot and presignals

I've extended the "Escape depot" section, pointing out that it can combined with presignaling.

Actually I don't know whether the the bult-in two way signal at a depot entry/exit is a entry pre-signal or a combo pre-signal: I've read "entry-" somewhere (example), and "combo" somwhere else (example)--HariSeldon 21:36, 27 June 2008 (CEST)

stations exits

guys there is A LOT about stations entrances, but what about stations EXITS? long exits are crappy because trains must STOP every time, and we don't want that for our great efficiency i googled it but i didn't find nothing about it, i was hoping to find something here, in the most professional place!

Terminus Ro-Ro and advanced terminus

Ro-Ro stands?

This name (Ro-Ro) is very unfortunate. Would not it be more correct to use another?

As online stations, one-way stations or stations with separate input and output because they really are. These stations have nothing to do with the Roll-on/roll-off:

Roll-on/roll-off (RORO or ro-ro) ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo such as automobiles, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers or railroad cars that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels. This is in contrast to lo-lo (lift on-lift off) vessels which use a crane to load and unload cargo.
So it is a term applied to ships. If we apply it to the stations, all stations are stations ro-ro, (in contrast, none station are lo-lo).

Its a good question! without-disruption terminus? improved terminus? I do not know... But, I do not see differences with advanced terminus--Luigix 15:29, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
I propose:
  • Change the name ro-ro to one-way station
  • Change the name Combined terminus- and roro-station to two-way station or Combined estation
  • Change the name ro-ro terminus to advanced terminus or improved terminus
  • Change the name Giant Ro-Ro terminus to Giant advanced terminus
  • Change the name Advanced Combined Terminus- and Roro-Station (I was out of breath!) to Advanced one-way station
  • Use the term Ro-ro only for Ro-ro ships (or a [cat]).

Basic station new pictures

I have created some new pictures for the basic station: - open station (without roof) for viewable signals, - basic one way signal on the mainline, - extra depots, - compact station size. Feel free to use it in the wiki if you like it

Loop Around Problem

I tested the "Loop Around" Station (but used a station with just 2 platforms and 3 trains in the network). I had the situation where both platforms where blocked and the 3. train, instead of looping around, tries to enter the first platform! Of course the train stopped in front of the signal before the platform but this way blocks the exit for the other train on platform 1. But this is normal when using just block signals, i corrected the "loop around" by replacing the 2 (in the picture 4) two way block signals with 2 (4) path signals (direction to the platforms) and replaced the one-way block signal right before the platform entries by one one-way path signal.
