OpenGFX BigGUI

The OpenGFX BigGUI NewGRF by Zephyris et al. provides various icons for the OpenTTD GUI in bigger sizes. This is for now meant for screens with general higher resolution, but may also become handy for touchscreeny-ish devices.

This page collects some open issues with the NewGRF and OpenTTD support for it.

For issues with the NewGRF itself (missing sprites and such), take a look at the issue tracker of OpenGFX BigGUI.

jjGUI

The jjGUI project by Juanjo aims at drawing scaleable .svg source graphics. Those .svg files allow to generate sets of .png GUI sprites for high-resolution screens. It runs into the same issues as OpenGFX BigGUI.

The project is to be used with Juanjo's set of patches, which needs TrueType fonts. Those patches try to modify OpenTTD, so the GUI looks okay at different screen resolutions (centering and aligning sprites and strings - see window layout issues below -). Also includes a setting so OpenTTD automatically chooses an appropriate size for different GUI elements: font sizes, button sizes and smaller clickable elements (elements on a list or the arrows on scrollbars).

Special icon characters

Some icons are provided as special text characters and drawn within strings:

Problem is that these icons do not generally match the font size.
