This is a map of New Zealands Chatham Islands. Only the terrain is real as I checked the island and there is only one small town on it and no visible industries. The best part and most profiting is a small island to the south of the large island where there are a lot of diamond and copper ore mines with high production rates but there are no industries there that would accept those materials and the island is a fair way away from the big one so you'll have to earn quite some money before you can tap the resources there, ships may or may not be a good choice, use your imagination ;)

  • Some hundred cities, all based manually, but nearly on their real places.
  • Countries included: Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, Andorra, Monacco, Italy, BeNeLux, United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Croatia, Bosnia, Yugoslavia, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Czech, Slovakia, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, southern parts of Finland, Sweden, Norway and northern parts of Morocco, Algeria & Tunisia.
  • Cities have sizes from 600 to 18.000 inhabitants.
  • Starts in 1920 or 1950 (2 versions included in zip-file download)
  • A lot of industries, planted automatically, some oil-rigs around British islands and south-west-coast of Norway.
  • NOTICE: 4 GRFs installed => DB Set v0.82 (XL), NewStations v0.42, PlaneSet and GermanTramSet. You should be able to play the scenario without these GRFs, but a message will show up that they are missing. Download all 4 of them: Download
  • NOTICE2: Scenario Download is a zip-file. You need to unzip it into your scnearios folder, it includes a version starting in 1920 and one starting in 1950.

Another TTD map from the late 90s that is playable with any version of OpenTTD and TTDPatch and TTD itself, of course. The map has lots of little and medium sized lakes which might make it interesting for ship transport if you build some canals and locks. Most of the landscape is flat with a few hills. Only in the south eastern part of the map is high mountain range.

  • Geography
Approximately correct; Based off height map data from NASA; Placement of lighthouses bares no resemblance to real lighthouses; Major TV Masts are accurately placed
  • Towns / Cities
Populations are approx real 2001 populations / 125; To be included population must be greater than 10,000 in the real world (equivalent to 80 in the game); Towns / Cities have been included on the following basis
  • all cities (officially must be above 100,000)
  • all towns over 60,000
  • all other cities (under 100,000 but with a cathedral)
  • all county towns (towns that originally gave the county its name)
  • other towns of significance (usually geographically significant)
Populations are within 15% accuracy; Locations have been approximated using detailed terrain maps and relative positions; 197 towns in total
  • Industry
The following industries have been based off maps of centres of UK industry
  • Oil Rigs
  • Oil Refineries
  • Oil Wells
  • Coal Mines
  • Coal Power Stations
  • Steel Plants
  • Farms
  • Forests
More than 1 of the same type of industry per town has been enabled to allow more realistic placement; Banks are in all towns big enough (1200 population); Factories are clustered around the major urban areas, particularly in northern England; Iron ore mines are located in Cumbria and Cornwall as these appear to be the only parts of the UK with significant quantities of iron ore
  • General
Mainland Europe and Republic of / Northern Ireland are not yet populated with industries / towns; Some industry placement may need revising due to large distances; Cities become very large in later stages of game, may be better to start with real population / 250 (half current levels)

Jamaica

This scenario makes it possible to build the whole island full of transport networks. With the oil wells in the north and in the south, the scenario delivers a great potential to exploit the whole island. You can even start setting up a boat service, which makes the coast villages grow, so you can build a passenger network a few years later. You can also choose to just build a gigantic railway network, that transports all kinds of products to the island's population.

A very nice map with an interesting shape. It might be a bit of a challenge to connect the isle in the center of the map without massive terraforming. This map was also released with OpenTTD from version 0.4.5 to 0.4.8. Download this scenario together with all the other maps from the 0.4.8 release.

Map information
  • This is a true monster scenario based in a fantasy world. It is just more or less flat land, not much water, hundreds of towns and industries. It is very easy to play this scenario, it allows all kind of vehicles, also ships/tankers on the sides of the map.
  • In the beginning it was just an test map for the new size of 2048x2048 when 0.50(RC2) was released. But is fun if you only want to play a huge map with lot of cities and industries.
  • Cities have sizes up to 52000, but most of them are between 3000 and 20000 inhabitants.
  • NOTICE: 4 GRFs installed => DB Set v0.82 (XL), NewStations v0.42, PlaneSet and GermanTramSet. You should be able to play the scenario without these GRFs, but a message will show up that they are missing. Download all 4 of them: Download

  • Training scenario, size 256x256, six towns, some industries.
  • I used it to teach some friends how to play OpenTTD and they now love at as much as everyone here of us.
  • Simple scenario, towns in 4 corners and 2 in the middle of the map, perfect for laying down some train tracks, flying from one corner to the next one, connecting the first industries.
  • Map has some potential for PDA-versions of the game etc.
